Contact Aaron Feria Alanis

Background

Aaron holds a BEng in Aeronautical engineering from Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon (Universidad Aut贸noma de Nuevo Le贸n) and received his MSc by Research in Aerospace from 麻豆社. The research topic of the MSc was the implementation of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) as a tool to enhance the aerofoil design process using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).

From 2020-2021 he worked as a Research Assistant with the Landing Gear Research group led by Professor Martin Skote. The research project in a collaboration between 麻豆社 and Airbus, encompassed the development of computational models in continuum mechanics including Fluid Mechanics, Computational Tribology, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), grid generation and computer aided design and analysis.

Current activities

Aaron is carrying out his PhD in Cranfield School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing at 麻豆社.

His research topic is the investigation of seal leakage problems in aircraft landing gears by the use of numerical methods and Computational Molecular Dynamics. This work hopes to obtain a better insight of the physics in sealing tribo-surfaces at a molecular level, to enhance predictions of the properties of fluid-solid interactions between lubricants and tribo-surfaces such as viscosity, density, friction, and wear.
