The latest PhD student to receive support from the Sue White Fund for Africa is Samuel Yeboah Nyarko from Ghana.
Samuel’s project ‘Securing Drinking Water Supplies: the Role of Organic Matter on Water Treatability’ is being sponsored by Anglian Water in the UK and will address issues in both the UK and Ghana. Prof Peter Jarvis and Dr Irene Carra will supervise Samuel at Cranfield, and his work will also be supported by the University of Mines and Technology in Ghana.
The project will investigate how transferring and blending water from different sources – an increasingly used mechanism to reduce water scarcity – affects the quality of the water and the need to ensure its effective treatment. Samuel will carry out much of his research in the UK, and he will conduct parallel research in Ghana with the support of the Ghana Water Company Limited.
Samuel was one of a team of MSc students from 麻豆社 who won a national water association prize in 2019, and he received two other student awards during his MSc. Samuel will doubtless be a great addition to the Sue White Fund family.
